Past Community Projects
The Tucson Osteopathic Medical Foundation was formed with the proceeds from the sale of Tucson General Hospital to Summit Health, Ltd., in 1986. As a result, the Foundation is a private operating foundation and, unlike community foundations, most of its resources are used in operating its own programs. However, this has not precluded the Foundation from making awards to community organizations. Called Trustee Awards, they provide grants to help smaller community projects with urgent needs that can be resolved with a modest amount of charitable dollars.
Grants have been provided to organizations such as:
6th Street Gallery
Arizona Theatre Company
Amistad Y Salud (Clinica Amistad)
